One Who Walks

Moving forward, one step at a time. Not fast, not loud. Just steady.

The walk

I'm Stian. I live in Ålesund, Norway, with the Sunnmøre Alps close enough to see from where I sit. I run every day and spend as much time as I can in the mountains on longer trips.

The walk that changed things was an 8-day loop through Tafjord, summer 2025. That was the biggest thing I had done, and somewhere around day five, with a heavier pack than I should have been carrying, I decided to walk the length of Norway. Nordkapp to Lindesnes, roughly 2,800 km, following Nordryggen through the inland mountains. That's planned for this summer.

I've done Romsdalsegga. Besseggen with family. Countless peaks in the local mountains around Ålesund. I'm a DNT member. I know the cabin system well.

The poster tool

I built the poster tool because I wanted a better record of the walks I'd done than a screenshot of a Strava map. You upload a GPS track, add photos from the route, get a printed poster. The route becomes an object. Something you can point at and say: I was there. That's how far it was. That's what it looked like.

The posters are printed on museum-grade matte paper and shipped worldwide through Gelato. I use the tool myself, for my own routes.

Why it exists

One Who Walks is not really about hiking. It's about endurance as identity. Choosing to move forward when it's easier to stop. Doing hard things without drama. The walk doesn't need to be big to count. If you walked it, it counts.

Follow along

I'm documenting the Norway walk as it happens. Trail footage, gear notes, honest reporting from the route.
